Welcome to French at Foxes Piece School
We celebrate all languages at Foxes Piece School and are delighted that so many of our pupils speak different languages at home.
Within our school, French is the language that is taught to Years 3,4,5 and 6 for an hour a week by a specialist French teacher. The lessons are taught in a fun, enjoyable and meaningful way to encourage pupils to be curious and excited about the diverse world we live in.
Learning is through games, role plays, action songs and work sheets with lots of reinforcement and repetition so that knowledge is retained. Lessons include phonics, vocabulary and grammar and in all topics the focus is on practical communication.
Topics covered range from greetings, classroom instructions, special French celebrations, French meals and of course, the market.
As a school, we celebrate both The European Day of Languages and One World Day where children get the opportunity to celebrate French as well as many other languages from around the world. Our French market is always popular with pupils experiencing cheese tastings, petanque and flag making.
