Year 2 Class Page
The Summer term in Year 2 is a very exciting time for us, with lots of outdoor learning- exploring nature and our wonderful school grounds. Since our main science topic this term is ‘plants’, we will be spending lots of time outdoors planting and observing. It is also the term where we enjoy our class trip and explore the natural world further (details TBC dependent on COVID-19 restrictions).
In English the children will be reading the series of books, ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ and use them to inspire their creative writing. In maths we will be starting to learn our times tables and division facts. These will be the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. It would be wonderful if you could help your child practice these at home.
We continue our learning of significant individuals in history, this term learning about famous explores such as Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong and in Geography begin our journey around the South East of England.
Homework will be given on a Friday and due back on Wednesday. Please practice the weekly spellings at the back of the book. The children are now changing their books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please make sure your child has a school bag or rucksack to carry these in so they are not lost or damaged.
PE lessons will be on Tuesdays and Thursday and we ask that children come in wearing their uniform and without any earrings please (for health and safety reasons).
