During the Summer term in Year 4, we are studying 'Anglo Saxons & Scot's. We will explore the history Anglo Saxon beliefs, famous Anglo Saxon kingdoms and Invasions.
In English lessons, we will be writing stories from imaginary worlds. The children will be using descriptive language and techniques suitable to the genre.
In Maths, the children are continuing to learn a range of arithmetic and problem solving skills, with a focus on times tables, in preparation of the Year 4 national times table test next year. We will also be teaching the topics of decimals, shape and statistics.
In Science, the children are learning about animals including humans and living things and their habitats. This includes teeth and the digestive system as the main focus for animals including humans. For living things and habitats, the children will learn about food chains and webs.
We are completing 2 one-hour lessons of PE a week - these will be on a Monday and Thursday. we will be learning this through dance, gymnastics and athletics.
Monday - English to be returned Thursday
Thursday - Maths to be returned Monday
Friday - Spellings to be practised for a test the following Friday
There is an expectation to read everyday at home as well as daily times tables practice in preparation for the times table test later in the term.
