Welcome back to the Autumn term! We hope you have had a lovely summer and are looking
forward to this term.
In English we will start by studying how to write an effective non-chronological report which will give
information on a subject or event. Pupils will encounter a variety of non-chronological report types
and will use the skills taught in lesson to successfully plan their own. Guided reading will take place every day in school and children will be encouraged to choose books from our extensive collections.
In Maths we will start by exploring the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division. We will focus on recapping the column method, multi-step addition and subtraction
problems, inverse operations, multiplying 4-digit numbers and learn how to use long division
Our topic for the first half term will be history based and we will be exploring medicine through the ages. In Science we will study living things and their habitats by classifying living things into broad groups according to common observable characteristics, including microorganisms, plants and animals.
PE days will be Monday and Wednesday when children should come into school in their PE kits. This is
our school uniform on these days and children should wear a white t-shirt, blue jumper/sweatshirt,
with black shorts or jogging bottoms. Children should not wear football shirts please. Hockey will be
our focus this term - for safety reasons the children will need to wear a mouth guard.
We are very excited for the new term ahead!
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
