Welcome to the Summer term!
In English we will start by studying how to write an effective balanced argument and will then look at topics which allow us to refine our skills across a range of writing styles. This will include William Shakespeare's Macbeth and the Titanic and how it sank.
In Maths we will develop our understanding of statistics and shape, before moving onto revision and spending some time practising our reasoning skills. We will also carry on improving our arithmetic.
Our topic for the first half of term will be history based - we will consider how women won the vote and whether the role of the suffragettes was positive or negative. In Science we will study different types of living organisms (mammals, amphibians, insects, fish etc) and build on work completed lower down the school in organising and classifying them by looking at similiarities and differences and the work of the Scientist Carl Linnaeus.
PE will be on a Monday and a Wednesday when children should come into school in their PE kit. This is our school uniform on these days and children should, wherever possible come in a white t-shirt, blue jumper/sweatshirt, with black shorts or jogging bottoms. Children should not wear football shirts please.
The second half of term will see us looking at being increasingly secondary ready and hopefully this year we will be able to celebrate the end of our time at primary school with the usual rites of passage - play, Longridge trip and a class BBQ.
As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
