Year 4: History

On Tuesday in our history lesson, we learned about how the Romans reinvented the way the Celts made roads.  We now understand the process the Romans followed in making their roads and how they were so successful, some of these roads still exist today!

We looked at a map to see where Roman roads once were and where they can still be seen today.  We recognised that the more roads that ran through a town, the more important that town must have been for trading and moving legions to and from.

To show our understanding, we created our own cross-sections of Roman roads using different materials to show the different layers. Miss Hayward then inspected our models as if she were Julius Caesar, searching for the best road builders for the empire!
