Art at Foxes Piece School

At Foxes Piece School, we are passionate about nurturing creativity and imagination through a rich and diverse art curriculum. We follow the Kapow Primary Art Curriculum, which provides a structured yet flexible approach to developing artistic skills and knowledge. This curriculum helps our students explore different forms of art, understand its history, and learn about notable artists, while encouraging them to express themselves through their own creative works.

Our art lessons are designed to develop practical skills in a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, craft, and design. Through these activities, children not only improve their fine motor skills but also gain confidence in using various artistic tools and materials. Lessons are built around engaging themes such as nature, celebration, sustainability, stories, and identity, offering students opportunities to connect their learning with the world around them.

In addition to hands-on creation, our students delve into the history of art, exploring different artistic movements and understanding the role of art in society. They learn about renowned artists from diverse backgrounds, gaining inspiration from their work and understanding how art can convey powerful messages and emotions.

At Foxes Piece, children are also encouraged to think critically about art. They are prompted to ask big questions such as: What is art? Why do people make art? Why is art important? These reflective discussions help students develop a deeper appreciation of art and its significance in our lives, fostering curiosity and open-mindedness.

Our art curriculum not only equips children with practical artistic skills but also encourages them to explore their personal and creative identities. Whether through individual projects or collaborative group work, students at Foxes
