Take a look at our latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year One invited their families to join them for a teddy bears picnic on Wednesday 24th September. The children worked hard to make cakes and biscuits for everyone to enjoy and fortunately the rain stopped just in time for us to gather in the Year One outdoor area. The children finished off the picnic with a rendition of We’re Going On a Bear Hunt, a text they have been learning by heart during English lessons.
Year 6 were lucky enough to have a visit from the Bucks Fire Service. The children showed off their knowledge of how to keep safe in various scenarios and also learnt a few more facts. They then had a tour of the fire engine. It was a very informative and fun hour.
Year 3 went to the Chiltern Open Air Museum and took part in their stone age workshop. They learnt how to make fire, paint and string and a Mesolithic camp from sticks, fabric and animal skins. Then they were archaeologists, finding out about people by digging, searching through ‘rubbish’ from different eras and guessing what people were doing. The children particularly enjoyed searching through fake poo to see what had been eaten!
Well done to all those children who took part in “The Summer Reading Challenge” All children who took part and were awarded a certificate from the library were given another certificate by Mrs Ward. The Reading competition at the moment is “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s Magicial Raeding Tour. All children have been given a driver’s log to record when they read. One segment for every 10 minutes. When the children have completed their log they will be entered into a prize draw. Good luck!
We had a pleasing turn out at these years ‘Meet the Teachers’ evening. Lots of families came along to visit their children’s new classes and find out about the year ahead. If you did not manage to make it on the evening please let us know and we can provide you with copies of hand-outs and presentations.
Thank you to everyone who donated cakes and those who came along to support our fundraising coffee morning. We raised over £100 pounds for the Macmillan nurses.
