Take a look at our latest news happening in school at the moment.
Last Friday, Year 6 had the amazing opportunity to visit Sky Studios in Osterley and to create their own news report. Ending off our topic for this term, we looked at the future of technology in medicine. The children researched many fascinating facts. Did you know heart valves are being made using 3D printers or that computers regularly search patient records to find patterns to help with diagnosis and treatment? With the help of the team at Sky Year 6 wrote, edited, produced and filmed an interesting report including an introduction, an on location piece, an on location interview and a studio-based expert interview.
We are now expecting to see several TV editors and producers in the future!
Last week in expectation of the General Election, the Foxes Piece constituencies held their own election with the Progress, Vision, Transform and Tomorrow parties battling to win representation in Parliament.
All KS2 children were issued with a polling card, attended a polling station and had the opportunity to case a secret ballot before placing their vote in the ballot box.
We are pleased to announce the winners as follows:
Year 3 constituency Theo (Progress Party)
Year 4 constituency (Progress Party)
Year 5 constituency Izzie (Vision Party)
Year 6 Constituency Oliver (Progress Party)
Staff constituency Amy (Transform Party)
On Tuesday Year 5 had a fantastic day at Sky Studios, London. The topic for the report was technology and its impact for us today. They had to discuss the benefits and drawbacks. There were 4 sections to their news report so we split up into 4 groups and they each got a section of the report. They prepared for the trip by writing scripts to help them prepare. Afterwards they had a tour of the studios and they played different roles such as producer, camera operator and editors.
Before Year 5 left, they received a USB stick which contained a copy of their video.
