Take a look at our latest news happening in school at the moment.
Y1 drew their face on their own red cards. We laid these out and looked at our differences - we know we are all equal.
Today Year 1 had fun making nature pictures using the fallen, autumn leaves on the field as well as sticks, feathers and stones. After that, they showed great patience and resilience when they had a try at mindfulness stone stacking.
Year 6 enjoyed an exciting game of Hula Hut! Each team had to build a hut out of hoops and then aimed to knock the opposite team's hula hut down by throwing a ball. This was so much fun and a great opportunity for team building.
Year 3 earned their marble treat and chose to have the PE apparatus out in the afternoon. They loved it!
To promote Mental Health Awareness the children took part in a cheerleading workshop, it was such fun.
During Year 2's Nature Explorers they created Ephemeral Art pieces. This meant using natural materials to make pictures and sculptures.
On Monday 11th October every child took part in planting for Mental Health Awareness. The Year 4 children had helped prepare the ground on Friday. Each child whispered a worry into a small piece of yellow paper and planted it with their daffodil bulb. The children have planted over 200 daffodil bulbs and in the spring they will have absorbed the children’s worries and turned them into beautiful flowers to remind them of Mental Health Awareness.
Selected Year 6 children have been taking part in cycle safety sessions both on the playground and on local roads. The leaders have been really impressed with the children and how well they have engaged with each session.
Year 6 has had a great week around different learning opportunities and embracing variety. We started the week with planting yellow daffodils for Mental Health Awareness day with Miss Kerr. The children enjoyed this activity and also being out in the fresh air. We have also been exploring Black History Month and have started learning about the Windrush story - we have been thinking about our equality value and what it means. Towards the end of the week, some of Year 6 took part in the Bikeability workshop, where they practised riding their bikes on the playground first and then moved onto the road. The children did really well and the coaches complimented their impeccable manners.
It has been an action packed week and we have enjoyed it all very much.
